Modern Spiritualism
"The theologian and Christian say, 'I believe'.
The agnostic says, 'I don't know'.
The materialist affirms annihilation of man's
consciousness at the change called death.
Spiritualism has one answer to all these speculations, and in
two words solves the difficult problem of all mankind, saying,
'I know'."
Harrison D, Barrett,
First President of the National Spiritualist Association of Churches, 1893-1907
Spiritualists believe
in God. The God of
each individual's
understanding,
by whichever
Name given to the
Universal Energy of
the One force of
interconnectedness
between us All.
Spiritualism is
committed to proving
the continuity of life,
demonstrated through
Mediumship
and Healing.
Spiritualism is a
Religion of Experience
of the Truth of the
Continuity of Life.
Principles of
the Church of the Living Spirit
1. We believe in God.
2. We believe that God is all there is.
3. We affirm the divine right of individuals to seek the truth within their own hearts.
4. Life is eternal.
5. Spiritual progression is infinite and eternal.
6. We believe that communication between all planes of existence is a reality.
7. The ultimate expression of loving God is to 'Love thy neighbor as thyself'.
8. We believe in personal responsibility and that individuals create their own reality according to natural law.
9. We affirm the innate gifts of mediumship and healing are expressions of God's love.
Spiritualism shows that life is continuous. That we only alter form of energies upon the withdrawal of the physical body. That there is no end of life, even with what we define as death. As a science, this is proven through communication with once embodied spirits - people that are considered to be dead.
Modern Spiritualism grew through the 1800s and early 1900s from the undeniable demonstrations of communication between all planes of existence, including the higher planes of Angels and Spirit Guides.
Not all Spiritualists are Mediums and not all Mediums are Spiritualist. But a high percentage of skilled Mediums have been trained in and practice the philosophy of Spiritualism, that philosophy being one of personal responsibility for spiritual growth, while with a physical body and while in spirit.
Spiritualists believe that we create our individual reality by living in accordance with Natural Law both on the earth and once we're transitioned to the spirit realm.
